Post No. 098: To The Ones I Love, Part 7 — I Had A Vision Of Love

(Image from Song Lyric Quotes In Text Image)

I Had A Vision Of Love

Kind, Sweet Destiny
Carried Me Through To "The One"
Who's Waiting For Me!

-Paul Whiting
(a.k.a., A Creative Writer)
"I maybe say too much about how life really is!"

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: This poem was inspired by the song "Vision Of Love" written by Mariah Carey and Ben Margulies, and performed by Mariah Carey, which is one of my favorite Mariah Carey songs—because, in my heart of hearts, I am a romantic fool! And "Vision Of Love" was the first Mariah Carey song the that I ever heard. (Please see the hyperlink below for the video.)

Plus, when I refer to "The One," I am referring to The First Being, or The First Female, who is Karma! And I truly believe that literally every soul is a God and/or a Goddess as The One!

And The One is the First Being who Created Physics through Mathematics and who Created the Process Of Evolution through Science, by which we are all here in a Field Of Gravity experiencing our individual lives as Souls, so that we may have a Vision Of Love...

And this poem was also published on my "Small All White in the Forest" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Small All White in the Forest."

This poem was written in Portland, Oregon.

"Poetry is using the fewest words possible in order to describe all that is possible to describe." –Paul Whiting [June 1st, 2022]

My poems that are Haiku in their style—within which one stanza is composed of three lines, where each line has words containing five syllables, seven syllables and five syllables, respectively—are a lot more like Senryū poems in that the topic of these poems is typically about people, rather than the topic of these poems being about nature, as is usually the case in classic Haiku poems. And that is why I call these types of poems "Haiku-style." –Paul Whiting [September 19th, 2023]

Post No. 097: To The Ones I Love, Part 6 — I'll Always, "All-Ways," Love You!

(Image from Keep Calm-o-matic)

"I'll Always, 'All-Ways,' Love You!"

...I'll always love you,
Ooh, I will "all-ways" love you,
You, My Darlings, you...

-Paul Whiting
(a.k.a., A Creative Writer)
"I maybe say too much about how life really is!"

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: This poem was inspired the song "I Will Always Love You" written by Dolly Parton and, specifically, the cover performed by Whitney Houston—because, in my heart of hearts, I am a romantic fool! (Please see the hyperlink below for the video.)

By the way, the video for the song is from the 1992 motion picture (movie) The Bodyguard, which "follows a former United States Secret Service agent [Kevin Costner] turned bodyguard who is hired to protect a famous actress and singer [Whitney Houston] from an unknown stalker." So, there are a lot of depictions of violence, including gun violence, in the movie and in the music video—which I am calling attention to in order to not call attention to it—because, in promoting this video, I do not wish to promote gun violence, or other forms of violence, in the minds of those who solve problems through gun violence, or through other forms of violence.

And this poem was also published on my "Small All White in the Forest" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Small All White in the Forest."

This poem was written in Portland, Oregon.

Post No. 096: To The Ones I Love, Part 5 — The Frazzled Hymn Of The Democrats

(Image from Wikipedia)

The Frazzled Hymn
Of The Democrats

The Democrats Are Engaged In
A Frazzled Struggle On Behalf Of
Those Who Are Experiencing Poverty
And Injustice—And All Of Those
Whom God Should Decide
Are Worthy Of Going To Heaven
—Since The Democrats Feel Like
"We Are The World!"

-Paul Whiting
(a.k.a., A Creative Writer)
"I maybe say too much about how life really is!"

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: This poem was inspired by the song "Battle Hymn of the Republic" by Julia Ward Howe.

Just so you know, I rewrote this poem, as I often do with my writing! Thus, I decided to revise this poem and change the original title from "The Battle Hymn Of The Democrats" to "The Frazzled Hymn Of The Democrats," because I think that Democrats and Republicans are both frazzled from being in a battle against each other over who is correct about their religious beliefs! So, I wanted to show you how this poem used to be written, before I rewrote it as above.

And it used to be written like this:

The Battle Hymn Of The Democrats

A Battle
Against Poverty
—And Injustice!

And, thus, I rewrote it to be written as it is above.

For, I feel like the Democrats are frazzled by believing they 'have to be' engaged in a struggle on behalf of those who are experiencing poverty and injustice—and all of those whom God should decide are worthy of going to Heaven—due to the religious beliefs of Democrats, since the Democrats feel like, to them, "We Are The World!"

By the way, when I republished the blog post prior to this one from my "Small All White in the Forest" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), I was certain that I had changed the post 'header' title from 'Battle' to 'Frazzled' (as mentioned above) in order for it to correspond with the poem title in preparation for republishing; however, I apparently did not change that prior blog post 'header' title as I had thought!

You see, I was convinced I had already changed that prior blog post 'header' title before republishing on January 28th, 2022, but then I noticed that the prior post title still said, "To The Ones I Love, Part 4 — The Battle Hymn Of The Republicans." So, I corrected it to say, "To The Ones I Love, Part 4 — The Frazzled Hymn Of The Republicans." However, the address of that post still reads as follows:

So, for the sake of consistency, I kept this post 'header' title as "To The Ones I Love, Part 5 — The Battle Hymn Of The Democrats" until I republished it; then, I corrected it to say, "To The Ones I Love, Part 5 — The Frazzled Hymn Of The Democrats." That way, both posts are published incorrectly, then corrected, because that is what "bipartisan compromise" is all about! Thus, the address of this post still reads as follows:

And this poem was also published on my "Small All White in the Forest" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Small All White in the Forest."

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: This poem was inspired by the song "Born To Be Wild" written by Mars Bonfire for the band Steppenwolf and, specifically, the cover performed by the band Hinder from their music video (please see the hyperlink below for the video) because, in my heart of hearts, I am a rocker dude!

By the way, I interpret the lyrics "Fire all of your guns at once" to be starting guns in a race because, in promoting this song, I do not wish to promote gun violence in the minds of those who solve problems through gun violence.

And this poem was also published on my "Small All White in the Forest" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Small All White in the Forest."

My Writing About Using Your Imagination: There is "A Wonderful World Of You" waiting inside of you—and it comes from using your imagination... And the "you" that is waiting for you on the inside is who you really are! –Paul Whiting (written August 7th, 2016, revised August 8th, 2016, revised July 29th, 2021, revised June 25th, 2022 and revised August 4th, 2022)

My Writing About How We Are Literally Everything That Literally Nothing Can Imagine: The naturally-occurring vibration at the center of Literally Nothing is self-aware—because of the pressure right in the middle of Nothing. And that self-aware vibration is the imagination of Nothing—which is what we are as souls—and that is how we are naturally born. And because what we are as souls is that vibration of imagination—We Are Literally Everything That Literally Nothing Can Imagine! –Paul Whiting (written October 6th, 2016, revised October 7th, 2016, revised October 25th 2021, revised July 25th, 2022 and revised August 4th, 2022)

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: This poem was inspired by the motion picture (movie) "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," which I saw as a child and—apparently—I never left the theater! And I especially love the song "Pure Imagination" from the movie, which is performed by Gene Wilder (please see the hyperlink below for the video). I also love covers of that song that have been sung by various artists throughout the years.

"It's A Fantasy!" (The Universe)

Universes are fantasies come to life—and we
are Gods and Goddesses using our imaginations
for transforming our close-minded strife!

So, whenever you find that your closed—

Post No. 091: For Self-Reflection, Part 7 — I Walked The Path

(Image from Jeanette Melian, LLC)

I Walked The Path

I walked the path that I had placed
before me, for I cleared the way
with my thoughts and deeds.

But I came to think this course
was chosen for me, as it was longer
and harder than at first I believed!

I struggled at each turn to stay true
to myself, since I had renounced
my center with lies and stealth.

When I saw this great error, I made
rigorous amends
and realized great
changes with my changing intent!

The difficulties ahead leveled out to
a smooth road, going so easy and
peaceful
to lead me back home.

Upon my arrival, I found home so
strange:
it was just the same as
before, but I had changed!

The journey I had taken—to find out
who I truly was—had circled back
to myself and I truly found love.

but finally concluded that—
in reality—I was the parent.

I saw myself as the student,
then finally understood that—
undoubtedly—I was the teacher.

For, I saw myself as being totally
free and clear—and I finally realized
that means being completely responsible.

I am them and they are also me.
They are droplets of water

We are one—and yet we are apart.
I am the whole of me and

I make a sound—they are its ring.
And together we sing songs
written by me!

We dance our dance so joyfully.

My Writing About The Fact That We Are Oceans Of Souls: We are oceans of individual souls that embody all things! –Paul Whiting (written January 24th, 2014 and revised August 30th, 2022)

My Writing About How God Is Like An Ocean And All Of Us Souls Are Like Droplets Of Water In That Ocean: Being God is like being an ocean and being an individual soul within God's Creation is like being a droplet of water in that ocean. So, each soul is very much like one droplet of water and God is like the ocean—which is a combination of a lot of water droplets. Thus, that is why many souls believe that they are, in fact, God since they are quite literally one droplet of water in God's Ocean; however, they are simply an individual portion of God's Creation as a droplet of water. Therefore, God is the entire ocean, because He is every droplet of water, and not simply an individual droplet, since He is all of the water droplets combined. –Paul Whiting (written January 26th, 2023 and revised May 21st, 2023)

Post No. 088: For Self-Reflection, Part 4 — All The Colors Of The Rainbow!

(Image from Chakra Anatomy)

All The Colors Of The Rainbow!

Sometimes, we are ragingly angry
and want so much to place blame.

Sometimes, we are wildly desiring
and then want more of the same.

Sometimes, we are totally willful
so we can finally get things done.

Sometimes, we are gently heartfelt
so that we ultimately do no wrong.

Sometimes, we are daringly vocal
in order to just speak our peace.

Sometimes, we are so mindful
in order to attain being at ease.

Sometimes, we are self-loving
about the feelings we can show.

Then, sometimes, we express
All The Colors Of The Rainbow!

-Paul Whiting
(a.k.a., A Creative Writer)
"I maybe say too much about how life really is!"

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: "All The Colors Of The Rainbow" are the Chakras—or the Energy Centers of the Human Body: 'anger' is red; 'desire' is orange; 'will' is yellow; 'heart' is green; 'voice' is blue; 'mind' is purple; 'self-love' is pink, since there are seven Chakras! And 'all the colors' combined are represented in their totality by white.

And you will notice that the Chakras are, in fact, the colors of a rainbow, because they represent The Light Of God (which is a white light, literally like the light of the stars in the universe, including the sun of our solar system) divided into its individual aspects—in the same way that a rainbow is sunlight divided into the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink through the prism of rain water droplets.

Just so you know, I revised this poem, as I often do with my writing! And I changed how this poem was written when I was editing it on my "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer," "Small All White in the Forest" and "Three Dark Horses" blogs. So, I wanted to show you how this poem used to be written, before I revised it as above.

Sometimes, we are daringly vocal
in order to just speak our peace.

Sometimes, we are so mindful

Sometimes, we are self-loving

Then—sometimes—we can express
All The Colors Of The Rainbow!

Thus, I revised this poem to be written as it is above.

And this poem was also published on my "Three Dark Horses" and "Small All White in the Forest" blogs (please see the hyperlinks below for the blogs), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message I am trying to convey through "Three Dark Horses" and "Small All White in the Forest." Plus, I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message I am trying to convey through my new "The Oneness Of God" spiritual practice!

Post No. 087: For Self-Reflection, Part 3 — Bound By The Law

(Image from Twitter)

Bound By The Law
(Or, "Karma Is The Law Of God")

The karmic circle of life
is the law that binds.

It is the law which can
be bent in awareness,

but it can only be broken
out of a desire to know.

Break the law and
you will surely know it.

Know the law and
you will surely bend it.

Post No. 086: For Self-Reflection, Part 2 — Growing Up

(Image from Wikipedia)

Growing Up

Fear is the hunger.

Anger is the lightning.

Expression is the thunder.

Honesty is the rainfall.

Understanding is the soil.

Desire is the seed.

Love is the nutrients.

Joy is the sunlight.

Wisdom is the harvest.

My Writing About The Harvest Of Wisdom: Fear is the hunger. Anger is the lightning. Expression is the thunder. Honesty is the rainfall. Understanding is the soil. Desire is the seed. Love is the nutrients. Joy is the sunlight. Wisdom is the harvest. –Paul Whiting (written on May 1st, 2009 and turned into 'my writing' on April 13th, 2024)

My Writing About The Seeds Of Possibility: All ideas are seeds and they only grow if you help them to do so! –Paul Whiting (written approximately on March 19th, 2011 and turned into 'my writing' on August 30th, 2022)

My Writing About The Seeds Of Truth, Version No. 1: Every soul that exists is born as "A Seed Of Truth," so to speak, since we are all born as Literally Nothing. And as "The Seeds Of Truth," so to speak, all of the souls that exist are created from Nothing. For, everything that has ever been created began—literally—as Nothing! –Paul Whiting (written May 12th, 2013, revised August 31st, 2013, revised March 11th, 2014, revised March 28th, 2022 and revised August 30th, 2022)

My Writing About The Seeds Of Truth, Version No. 2: Every soul that exists is born as "A Seed Of Truth," so to speak, since we are all born as Literally Nothing. And Nothing has a vibration in the center of it—due to the pressure right in the middle of Nothing—that produces light, which is self-aware or, phrased another way, that light is literally consciousness. Therefore, all of the souls that exist are created as "The Seeds Of Truth," so to speak, from the vibration at the center Nothing. And that center vibration of nothing is The Light Of God, which is also The Consciousness Of God. And so, phrased another way, that Light Consciousness at the center of Literally Nothing is like a seed, which is what we are. –Paul Whiting (written approximately on August 9th, 2013 and turned into 'my writing' from my notes on August 30th, 2022)

My Poem About The Trees In Springtime:

The Trees Must Be So 'Re-Leaved'
(Or, "A Springtime Haiku-Style Poem")

The trees must be so
're-leaved' when it is springtime:
Winter is over!

–Paul Whiting September 12th, 2022 and revised September 13th, 2022)

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: I wrote this poem to explain the concept that, metaphorically speaking—or, comparatively speaking—maturing to be a responsible adult is like growing and harvesting your own food, since being responsible for oneself leads to wisdom!

And this poem was also published on my "Three Dark Horses" and "Small All White in the Forest" blogs (please see the hyperlinks below for the blogs), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message I am trying to convey through "Three Dark Horses" and "Small All White in the Forest." Post No. 085: For Self-Reflection, Part 1 — Map Quest

(Image from Dorset Cereals)

Map Quest
(Or, "The Real Treasure Hunt")

The treasure
lies within
the hunt!

In other words:

It is the hunt
that is the
treasure!

-Paul Whiting
(a.k.a., A Creative Writer)
"I maybe say too much about how life really is!"

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: I wrote this poem to explain the concept that "the treasure" (the reward for doing work) is a characteristic of, or an integral part of, or a natural state of "the hunt" (the process of doing work).

In other words, it is the process of doing work that matters. For, it is the process of doing work that is the "treasure"—and not necessarily the "reward" of doing work that is the treasure—because, sometimes, "there is no treasure found from the hunt."

Thus, it is the hunt that is the treasure!

Put another way, it is the process of doing work that is the reward of doing work—because doing work is intrinsically rewarding and you gain insights about how best to process doing that kind of work from doing it—since there are times when there is no "reward" for doing work.

Now in this metaphor, or direct comparison, that I am making, I am referring specifically to the types of work where there is an actual possibility that "the treasure lies within the hunt" since, for some types of work, it is required for there to be "a literal reward" in order for that work to have any value at all!

Therefore, this is simply a metaphorical comparison that I am making with specific regard to the types of work for which this metaphor of "the treasure lies within the hunt" actually applies.

Thus, I am extolling the virtues of seeing the process of doing work as being valuable in lieu of, or in place of, the reward of doing work, because there are times in life when you do work—such as trail and error effort, or research and development, or the scientific method, for example—where there are no "rewards," necessarily, but there is still value in doing that work due to experience gained, as well as due to the work that you produced which you may not be able to utilize at the time, but that you can utilize at another time...

...A simple example of this is in motion picture production (movie production), where motion picture studios (movie studios) will film sequences for motion pictures (movies) that "end up on the cutting room floor," as the saying goes; but the studios may recycle those film sequences that were cut, later on, in order to utilize those film sequences in other motion pictures (movies).

Just so you know, I revised this poem, as I often do with my writing! And I changed how this poem was written when I was editing it on my "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer" and "Small All White in the Forest" blogs. So, I wanted to show you how this poem used to be written, before I revised it as above.

And it used to be written like this:

Map Quest!
(Or, "The Real Treasure Hunt")

The treasure
lies within
the hunt!

Thus, I revised this poem to be written as it is above.

And this poem was also published on my "Small All White in the Forest" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Small All White in the Forest."

Post No. 084: For the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, Part 2 — We Shall Overcome For Our Dr. King

We Shall Overcome
For Our Dr. King

I Have A Dream That,
Someday, We Shall Overcome
For Our Dr. King!

-Paul Whiting
(a.k.a., A Creative Writer)
"I maybe say too much about how life really is!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Of Service (for 2013): For those, like myself, who prefer to 'volunteer financially' for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service (which occurs on the same day as Martin Luther King Jr. Day, since it is the same holiday), please join me in making a donation to the participating organization(s) of your choice in order to support the efforts of those who are honoring Dr. King's legacy! –Paul Whiting (written January 19th, 2013, revised April 18th, 2015, revised January 15th, 2022, revised January 16th, 2023 and revised March 21st, 2023)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About Having A Difficult Time Deciding Whether I Should Donate To Various Charitable Organizations For The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Of Service (for 2022): I am having a difficult time deciding whether I should donate via Charity Navigator to various charitable organizations, so that I can 'volunteer financially' for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on January 17th, 2022, in order honor Dr. King's legacy of civic engagement. (By the way, the "Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service" is the same holiday as the "Martin Luther King Jr. Day" in case you did not know that—like I did not know that until recently!) You see, the reason that I am having a difficult time deciding whether, or not, to donate is due to that fact that I think that my blogs are being sabotaged by someone who is very 'tech savvy,' and they may be someone that I know, because I have noticed strange things happening while I have been editing my writing, including just today, January 16th, 2022, when I was planning to edit a blog post and the images on the Blogger Dashboard were loading in an odd kind of way, like I couldn't see the images at first. And so, I am extremely afraid that I am not going to be able to "see" my blogs anymore—if I donate to these charities for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service—because I am being "warned" to not donate! Therefore, out of a sense of fearful caution, I am not going to donate just in case I am being threatened in some way... –Paul Whiting (written January 16th, 2022, revised July 18th, 2022, revised January 16th, 2023 and revised March 21st, 2023)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About Finally Deciding That I Should Donate To Various Charitable Organizations For The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Of Service (for 2022—continued): I decided right before midnight on January 17th, 2022 to donate via Charity Navigator for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service to organizations that "defend civil rights, protect legal rights, and promote tolerance and understanding." You see, I was on Charity Navigator's website deleting the charities that I had previously selected for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service—as a way to 'volunteer financially' in order honor Dr. King's legacy of civic engagement—but I decided to not donate to those charities out of fear that my blogs would somehow be sabotaged! And the reason that I decided to not donate is due to that fact that I think that my blogs are being sabotaged by someone who is very 'tech savvy,' and they may be someone that I know, because I have noticed strange things happening while I have been editing my writing, including yesterday, January 16th, 2022, when I was planning to edit a blog post and the images on the Blogger Dashboard were loading in an odd kind of way, like I couldn't see the images at first. And so, I was extremely afraid that I was not going to be able to "see" my blogs anymore—if I donated to these charities that I had already selected for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service—because I was being "warned" to not donate! Therefore, out of a sense of fearful caution, I decided yesterday that I was not going to donate just in case I was being threatened in some way... Then, after I deleted the charities that I had previously selected, I noticed that the main webpage of Charity Navigator highlighted HOT TOPICS that "support nonprofits responding to current events and crises," including "Racial Justice & Civil Rights," so I decided to donate for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service from that list! Plus, I also included a donation to Charity Navigator, because they are a charity too. And I really appreciate being able to utilize Charity Navigator's charity rating system in order to assess which charities receive their 'give with confidence' rating. I also appreciate being able to donate to multiple charities at the same time—all in one convenient transaction, rather than having to process individual donations on each charity's website—which makes supporting civil rights organizations via Charity Navigator that much more worthwhile! –Paul Whiting (written January 17th, 2022 revised January 18th, 2022, revised March 25th, 2022, revised June 18th, 2022, revised July 18th, 2022, revised January 16th, 2023, revised March 21st, 2023 and revised January 15th, 2024)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Of Service (for 2023): For the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, which is yearly (annually) on the third Monday in January, I donated to organizations that "defend civil rights, protect legal rights, and promote tolerance and understanding" today, January 16th, 2023, via Charity Navigator. You see, I prefer to 'volunteer financially' for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in order honor Dr. King's legacy of civic engagement. Plus, I also included a donation to Charity Navigator, because they are a charity too. And I really appreciate being able to utilize Charity Navigator's charity rating system in order to assess which charities receive their 'give with confidence' rating. My Writing About The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Of Service (2024): In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, which is yearly (annually) on the third Monday in January, I donated today, January 15th, 2024, to organizations that "defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States." You see, I prefer to 'volunteer financially' for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in order honor Dr. King's legacy of civic engagement. –Paul Whiting (January 15th, 2024)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: "...We Shall Overcome For Our Dr. King!"

By the way, the "Martin Luther King Jr. Day" is the same holiday as "Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service!" You see, for some reason I thought that the Saturday before "Martin Luther King Jr. Day" was the "Day of Service" and that it was a totally separate event from the "Day Observed," which is yearly (annually) on the third Monday in January. So, that is why I wrote a separate poem for "Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service," which is published on this blog. (Please see "A Day Of Service For Our Dr. King" in labels for the poem.)

Also, on my "Small All White in the Forest" blog where this post was originally published, beginning in January 2013, I tried to create a post for virtually every holiday and special occasion of which I was aware, but I realized by September 2014 that I did not have enough time and energy to continue posting for every holiday and special occasion. And I decided to keep the poems in that series which were the most relevant to my "Small All White in the Forest" blog, of which this is one.

And this poem was also published on my "Small All White in the Forest" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Small All White in the Forest."

This poem was written in Portland, Oregon.

Therefore, even though the "Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service" is the exact same holiday as "Martin Luther King Jr. Day," I originally published this poem, on my "Small All White in the Forest" blog, on the Saturday before "Martin Luther King Jr. Day," because I thought the "Day of Service" was a separate event from the "Day Observed." Post No. 082: The "Just Us" Of The Lord, Part 5 — "Christ" Into The Word "Christian"

(Image from H3DWallpapers)

"Christ" Into The
Word "Christian"

They don't just profess the words
"I am saved" and then proceed to
turn away from all others' needs.

They see where help is required and
then reach out a hand to lift up those
who may have "fallen from grace."

For, they truly give life to the
word "salvation," since we are
really here to save each other.

In other words, we are here to save
each other from each other because,
at times, we may lack compassion.

And they can honestly call upon
God to literally "appear," which they
accomplish by "appearing" themselves.

And this is how we are actually able
to see God In All Of His Glory offering
shelter to those who may be without.

And this is how we can clearly find
God In All Of Her Majesty making meals
for those who may be down and out.

For, they walk the talk of God's Love For Us,
which is formally known as The Golden Rule,
or The Platinum Rule, or The Diamond Rule.*

And this is how you know a "Genuine
Christian," since they are genuinely able
to put "Christ" into the word "Christian."

And I changed how one line of this poem was written when I realized that I should remove the metaphorical comparison to "blindness," since it is disrespectful toward those who are blind. So, I wanted to show you how this particular line used to be written, before I revised it as above.

And it used to be written like this:

They don't just profess the words
"I am saved" and then proceed to
"turn a blind eye" to all others' needs.

Besides that, I revised this poem—yet again—as I often do with my writing! And I changed how this poem was written when I was editing it on my "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer," "Small All White in the Forest" and "Three Dark Horses" blogs. So, I wanted to show you how this poem used to be written, before I revised it as above.

And it used to be written like this:

"Christ" Into The
Word "Christian"

They don't just profess the words
"I am saved" and then proceed to
turn away from all others' needs.

They see where help is required and
then reach out a hand to lift up those
who may have "fallen from grace."

For, they truly give life to the
word "salvation," since we are
really here to save each other.

In other words, we are here to save
each other from each other because,
at times, we may lack compassion.

And they can honestly call upon
God to literally "appear," which they
accomplish by "appearing" themselves.

And this is how we are actually able
to see God In All Of His Glory offering
shelter to those who may be without.

And this is how we can clearly find
God In All Of Her Majesty making meals
for those who may be down and out.

For, they authentically walk the talk of God's
Love For Us, which is formerly known as
The Golden, or Diamond, or Platinum Rule.*

And this is how you know a "Genuine
Christian," since they are genuinely able
to put "Christ" into the word "Christian."

Post No. 081: The "Just Us" Of The Lord, Part 4 — Please Pass The Miracle

(Image from Before It's News)

Please Pass The Miracle

Since we all sit
at the table of life,
please pass the miracle!

As we all go through
the occasional strife,
please pass the miracle!

Because it is our job to be
the miracle worker for
both you and me!

For, God truly wants us
to show the love for each
other that we already hold!

Therefore, if the times
should get too tough,
please pass the miracle!

And, that way, it
just might be enough
that we were the miracle!

Be The "Fire!" (As A Metaphor For Passionate Creativity)

Whenever you are
cold and lonely,
be the "fire!"

If you find yourself
down and out,
be the "fire!"

When nobody
else dares to,
be the "fire!"

Or should all
else fail you,
be the "fire!"

Because the
love of God is you
and that's the "fire!"

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: "The love of God is you and that's the 'fire!'" (By the way, I mean the word "fire" as a metaphor for passionate creativity.)

Post No. 079: The "Just Us" Of The Lord, Part 2 — The Power Of Prayer

(Image from pixshark.com)

The Power Of Prayer

To anyone whose hands
are circled in prayer,
God is there for all of us
—if we are simply aware!

We can call upon God in
our hour of need and ask
God for God's Blessing; we
can ask God to intervene!

Because we all need God's
Love, singing on its wings, to
make right all that is wrong
and to heal everything!

And we all need God's Light
to come down in a beam
to shore up our souls and
to make our hearts gleam!

That's why we need God's
Understanding be there for us,
as we face what we have to—
For, In God Is Our Trust!

And the times that we endure
can be tough, to say the least,
so we cannot do it alone; we
need to ask for God's Peace!

Thus, you can call upon God
when you are saying a prayer
and know that God is listening,
because God is always aware!

My Writing About Where To Find God, Version No. 1: If you are looking for God, go inside of yourself. That is where God is. –Paul Whiting (September 19th, 2023)

My Writing About Where To Find God, Version No. 2: If you are looking for God, go inside of yourself. That's where God is. For, God is the entire Universe which, I believe, is like a Super Computer! Therefore, the reason that God is inside of you is due to the fact that God Is All Of Us in zillions of different forms—such as plants, insects and animals, which includes humans. And that is why God is contained within each one of our consciousnesses, which is how, and why, prayer works. So, pray to your God! For, God is always listening, since God is always there. –Paul Whiting (written September 19th, 2023 and revised March 16th, 2024)

Post No. 078: The "Just Us" Of The Lord, Part 1 — More Than Just A Word

More Than Just A Word

Being "thankful" is not merely having an
overly-full stomach, with your friends
and family gathered all around you,
on a celebratory autumn day;

Being "thankful" is also good food
filling, and warming, your empty belly,
with your fellow homeless people gathered
all around you, on any given day.

Being "grateful" is not just the sound of rain
dancing on the roof of your dry car—where
the most you have to worry about is being
ticketed for speeding within city limits;

Being "grateful" is also the rain singing on
the roof of a city-permitted tent city—where
you no longer have to worry about being
ticketed for camping within city limits.

Being "helpful" is not simply offering to
let a total stranger cut in line in front of
you, during the busy holiday season, in
order to give their tired feet some rest;

Being "helpful" is also offering to let a total
stranger stay in the unused camper in your
backyard, during the off-season, in order
to help them to get back on their feet.

Being "hopeful" is not always longing
for exceptionally long-lasting and loving
relationships, a consumer-driven lifestyle,
or even untold fame and fortune;

Being "hopeful" is also having hot,
nutritious food, being able to find
affordable housing, and praying to be
shown a little kindness along the way.

-Paul Whiting
(a.k.a., A Creative Writer)
"I maybe say too much about how life really is!"

I budget for "carrying cash" each month in my monthly budgets for any expenses that I may wish to pay for in cash. And I budget—specifically—to use some of my carrying cash to help homeless folks who are panhandling, or "spanging" (which is a term that is a blend of the word 'spare' plus the word 'change' from the phrase, "Do you have any spare change?" or the phrase, "Can you spare any change?") and that is how I give "alms to the poor." –Paul Whiting (written December 26th, 2015, revised September 24th, 2019, revised December 23rd, 2021, revised December 24th, 2021, revised December 25th, 2021, revised December 26th, 2021 and revised July 6th, 2022)

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: I wrote this poem after I was homeless for ten days in October of 2009!

And, for me, the toughest part about being homeless wasn't living outdoors, since I was basically "camping": it was the way that some people treated me, because I didn't have a place to live. [However, I should clarify that it never stormed while I was homeless, nor did it ever reach freezing temperatures; plus, I had money available to buy whatever I needed (the reader should know that I am HIV-positive and that I have full-blown AIDS) due to the fact that I am on "SSDI," or Social Security Disability Insurance.]

And so, I budget—specifically—to use some of my carrying cash to help homeless folks who are panhandling, or "spanging" (which is a term that is a blend of the word 'spare' plus the word 'change' from the phrase, "Do you have any spare change?" or the phrase, "Can you spare any change?") and that is how I give "alms to the poor."

By the way, the image illustrating this poem is "My Portable Condo," which was my portable housing for ten days, until I was able to get into 'hard housing,' so to speak, which was a tent city called "Dignity Village." Later on, I was able to get housing in a home that was operated by a straight married couple living there, where I rented out a room and lived with other individuals who were dealing with various housing-challenge issues. And, eventually, I moved into my current studio apartment, located in a low income housing apartment building, where I have lived since June of 2010.
