The Greatest Love Of All Is Inside
[A "The Greatest Love of All" song lyrical adaptation]

I believe that we are the
children of our future!
Teach ourselves well and
let peace lead the way.
Show ourselves all the
beauty we possess inside!
Give ourselves a sense of
pride to make it easier.
Let our child-like laughter
remind us how we need to be!

Everybody's searching for a hero;
People need someone to look up to!
I've never found anyone to fulfill
that need. It's a lonely place to be—
And so, I learned to depend on me!

I decided long ago, to go through
life as if I were my own shadow...
...So, if I fail, or if I succeed,
I will always live as I believe!

No matter what you face—believe!
You'll always have your own dignity.
Because the greatest love of all is
happening to you! You'll find the
greatest love of all inside of you.
The greatest love of all is pleasing
to achieve! Growing to love yourself,
it is the greatest love of all.

I believe that we are the

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: This poem is a lyrical adaptation of the song "The Greatest Love of All" written by Michael Masser and Linda Creed and, specifically, the cover performed by Whitney Houston—because, in my heart of hearts, I am an intentional self-lover! (Please see the hyperlink below for the video.)

And this poem was also published on my "Small All White in the Forest" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Small All White in the Forest."

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: This poem was inspired the song "I Will Always Love You" written by Dolly Parton and, specifically, the cover performed by Whitney Houston—because, in my heart of hearts, I am a romantic fool! (Please see the hyperlink below for the video.)

By the way, the video for the song is from the 1992 motion picture (movie) The Bodyguard, which "follows a former United States Secret Service agent [Kevin Costner] turned bodyguard who is hired to protect a famous actress and singer [Whitney Houston] from an unknown stalker." So, there are a lot of depictions of violence, including gun violence, in the movie and in the music video—which I am calling attention to in order to not call attention to it—because, in promoting this video, I do not wish to promote gun violence, or other forms of violence, in the minds of those who think it's a good idea to solve problems through gun violence, or through other forms of violence.

My poems that are Haiku in their style—within which one stanza is composed of three lines, where each line has words containing five syllables, seven syllables and five syllables, respectively—are a lot more like Senryū poems in that the topic of these poems is typically about people, rather than the topic of these poems being about nature, as is usually the case in classic Haiku poems. And that is why I call these types of poems "Haiku-style." –Paul Whiting [September 19th, 2023]
