Post No. 124: For "The Habit — The Lord of the Stings!"

"The Habit — The Lord of the Stings!"

Whenever we allow our bad habits to get
the very best of us, we will often call on
them simply because we think we must!

Then we may find that we cannot escape their
powerful pull—which is when we are bothered
by them
—and that can make us out to be a fool!

And that may get us to thinking, "this must be
some kind of test..."
When, really, we saddled up
that old habit and rode it straight into the west!

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: This poem was inspired by the motion picture (movie) series "The Hobbit," and "The Lord of the Rings," directed by Peter Jackson, which are based upon J. R. R. Tolkien's epic high-fantasy novels of the same names.

And this poem was also published on my "Small All White in the Forest" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Small All White in the Forest."

This poem was written in Portland, Oregon.
