Post No. 226: You Are Not Alone—You Are Lonely For Your Own Good Company

You Are Not Alone—You Are Lonely
For Your Own Good Company

You are not alone—you are lonely
for your own good company!
You have never been without good
company: you are always there...

If you are feeling lonely—like I feel
lonely sometimes—you are lonely
for your own good companionship.

"Alone in a crowd" describes how it
feels for you to be surrounded by others,
but still feel lonely, since you are not alone
in a crowd... For, not feeling like you have a
good relationship with yourself makes the
crowd feel like it's solitude, rather than the
crowd feeling like it's companionship.

My Writing Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: "You are not alone—you are lonely for your own good company! You never have been without good company: you are always there... If you are feeling lonely—like I feel lonely sometimes—you are lonely for your own good companionship."

And what prompted this poem is the song "Morning Prayer," written by Jason Gould, Marsha Malamet, Liz Vidal, as performed by Jason Gould, and specifically the lines, "I ache to see you walk through my open door/To fall in your arms and know I'm not alone anymore." (Please see the hyperlink below for the video.)

You see, I have noticed that a lot of songs have some kind of message about "being alone until you find your one, true love..." And when I heard this same message in Jason Gould's song I thought, "You are not alone...you are always there!"

And this poem was also published on my "Poet, Artist and Philosopher" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message I am trying to convey through "Poet, Artist and Philosopher."

This poem was written in Portland, Oregon.
